Onshore: These companies charge any where from 12 cents to 18 cents per line. The line counting methods are neither well defined nor verifiable. They cash in from the clients who are afraid of offshore. Many of these companies in-turn out source their work to at home transcriptionists or offshore companies.
Offshore: These companies will charge any where from 7 cents a line to 12 cents a line. There are as many as 1000 companies or more providing transcription service to US based hospitals and clinics, but most of their volumes are limited to one or two clients. These are the toughest competition since most of them don’t have a presence in the US they are able to provide terrible service at low cost of 7cents. Very few of them come close to what we have to offer but are either high in price or poor quality.
